ORANGE FEAST
Table project with the students of NDHS
Orange Feast is the project No.2 for RPNYC l’Orangerie. The foundation promotes craftsmanship and design to inner city students in NYC.
For the second semester of the year I worked with a smaller group of students on a project with a focus on one craft, the Marquetry and the help of an artisan partner l’Atelier Viollet.
The students designed and helped fabricate a communal table. Inspired by Lower East Side, they scketched a 10' long fresco - the future table top.
Then we vectorized the black and white fresco and laser cut the pieces of this gigantic puzzle in 3 shades of wood veneer!
An important and meticulous phase was to assemble all pieces together.
We finished the last steps of the marquetry process at the Atelier Viollet with the most talented team of artisans.
The student’s table was proudly exhibited at the Gallery R’Pure.
